Round 2 Wrap: Wet Winton

Wet Winton Adds Another Twist to the 2026 VSSC

Round 2 of the Victorian Super Sprint Championship was held at Winton Motor Raceway on Sunday 17 May, with the MSCA running the event as part of their 2026 sprint calendar.

And, in true Victorian motorsport fashion, Winton decided to throw a bit of everything at the competitors, but mostly rain.

From reports on the day, conditions stayed wet for most of the event, with only one session offering anything close to a drying line. That made Round 2 less about perfect lap times and more about car control, confidence, tyre choice, patience, and keeping it pointing in the right direction.

In other words: proper supersprint character-building weather.

Thank you to MSCA

A big thank you goes to the MSCA team for hosting Round 2 and putting together another strong event at Winton. Running a supersprint is never a small job, especially when the weather refuses to play nicely, so the effort from officials, volunteers, organisers, and competitors is genuinely appreciated.

Events like this only happen because clubs are prepared to do the work behind the scenes, permits, entries, officials, timing, garages, schedules, recovery plans, the lot. The VSSC thanks MSCA for their continued support of the championship.

Championship points are taking shape

After two rounds, Scott Rowe, Stephen Emery and Adrian Jarvis are tied at the top of the outright standings on 20 points each, with Stephen Carron close behind on 19.

Jarvis currently leads the Road Car standings, while Carron continues to head the Circuit Car category. Strong performances across all classes have kept the championship battles close heading into the next round at Phillip Island.

Wet weather, real points

Round 2 was a reminder that the VSSC is not just about outright speed in perfect conditions. Wet days reward smooth inputs, smart decisions and consistency across the whole season.

With two rounds now complete, the championship is starting to build a proper picture, but there is still a long way to go.

Next round: Phillip Island

The championship now heads to Phillip Island for Round 3 on Saturday 4 July.

With Sandown and Winton now complete, Phillip Island will give competitors a very different challenge, fast, flowing and usually a little less forgiving if you get carried away.

Updated championship points are now available on the VSSC LEADERBOARD page.
